Sims can’t own/run their own businesses, the weather doesn’t change, and there are no pets, vacations or hobbies. While the new version appears to have a number of features from some of the expansion packs (cars, stores, gardening, etc), there are things that seem to be a step backward from Sims 2. On the downside, I had almost all of the expansion packs for The Sims 2, so going to a bare-bones version of The Sims 3 is taking a little getting used to.
